A practical and comprehensive resource for new and aspiring studio owners This book covers all aspects of starting and running a professional sound recording studio. For the first time, here is one guide that combines serious business planning, studio design and audio engineering as interconnected aspects of starting and running a studio. Numerous practical examples and applications throw light on the daily workings of a recording studio, including recording, marketing, sales, employees, and taxes. Readers with no business or sound recording experience will find what they need to start and succeed in creating a sound recording studio. Both the business and engineering aspects of this endeavor are discussed logically and chronologically, moving from initial considerations through both planning and startup in a practical, down-to-earth style. The material is based on current theory, research and practice found in the recording industry and is presented in a "how to" style.

5A must read for anyone serious about a recording studio project!  Aug 15, 2010 By Unique "Unique"
A great book on giving a perspective of the promotion, economics and operations of a new "start-up" recording studio. Some reasonable gear selection focused on covering the operations needs (for high-end gear spending stimulus look in other readings or visit remaining pro audio shows).

Very useful advices with practicality on how to offer recording services in a business professional manner and with a sensible money balance.

5A must have!  Aug 07, 2008 By W. Mutual "OC Rocker"
This is the perfect book for anyone looking to open a professional recording studio. This book covers a lot on business ownership, taxes, state and local regulations, and even employee standards. As well as construction of the studio, wiring, sound theory, and acoustics. A must have!

5my son loved it  Feb 10, 2008 By Mary N. Detto
I purchased this for my son who just moved to phoenix from Burbank where he was an engineer at a well known studio. He's ready to start his own place with the blessings of is producer/mentor out in CA. He enjoyed the info on the money part of the bus. The taxes, advertising etc.
