5Great Resource  Jul 25, 2010
This book is a great mixing resource. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who needs some practical direction in the world of audio mixing.

4Decent Book  Jun 16, 2010
There's a lot of great material in this book, however, only half of the book are actual studio concepts. The other half is interviews with engineers. This not a bad thing. The interviews are very insightful. However, when the chapter on adding dimension to your mixes comes to only 20 pages and leaves more questions than answers it becomes clear that the trade off is not worth it. I would've liked to have seen every technical chapter in this book doubled.
Still, this is a good book and worth buying.

5Book does help  May 15, 2010
I have to say this book is pretty good. It doesn't go into crazy detail about equipment settings, but it does give you insight on how different engineers approach the mix down process. It was an easy read and I'm using a lot tips I learned from the book! I highly recommend this book if you're looking to learn how other mixers approach mixing.

1Not too useful  Apr 29, 2010
I had a hard time finding useful information in this book. It's full of information ABOUT audio and audio engineers, as opposed to ACTUAL information. I'm a seasoned musician who is new to the audio side of things, so I needed to the bare bones, basic numbers and math and techniques of how this side of the glass works. The author spends as much time talking about song arrangement (which to me falls under producing, arranging and composition) than actual mixing and audio skills. As well, there's no "step 1, step 2, step 3" ways for getting started. Instead he interviews famous engineers who say things like "sometimes I start with the kick. Sometimes I start with the snare." I don't find this kind of info particularly helpful. But that's just me.

5A very comprehensive look at mixing  Apr 14, 2010
This book has very helpful to gain inside knowledge of mixing. The interviews with individual engineers was especially informative. It's like hang'n out with a bunch of experienced pros and getting their best tips and tricks plus a general explanation of how each component in mixing works and why.
