2Big, but not real useful  Apr 05, 2004 By E. Lofgren
Unless you write music with a felt-tipped marker, I'd look for something else. The staves in this volume are large and extremely dark. The typical (pencilled) scribbles of composers will be difficult to read on this paper.

4decent manuscript paper at a great price  Aug 02, 2005 By Joshua W. Mills
Each page has twelve 11mm staves with 10mm between each. This can get cramped quickly depending on the music, so if you're looking for a high-quality paper for a nice-looking manuscript, look elsewhere. If not, this is hard to beat for the price. I use only one side of the paper, so this works out to about $.043 per page.

The paper itself is fairly sturdy, and the perforations let them tear out without too much trouble. The one-page 'notation guide' is useless unless you don't know the difference between a quarter note and a rock.

As for ease of readability, the staves are fairly bold and might cause problems for pencil users. Personally, I find that pen doesn't smear and is easier to read than pencil, and erasures take much more time than scribbling over a passage anyway. That said, this paper I've found perfect for manuscripts ranging from solo instruments through piano and chamber pieces and even large ensemble sketches.

5Great!  Nov 14, 2002 By Justin
I love this book! Good price for how much staff paper you get. I have been able to write all kinds of drum solos down with this awesome book. I suggest that if you need to write music but don't have the money for some REALLY expensive and nice staff paper, get this book.

3Does its job, but not flexible  Sep 07, 2005 By B. Gnojek "Musician"
Like other reviewers, I love how cheap this paper is. The 12-staffs can be a bit tough to write around, not much can extend above or below the staff without having to skip a line, but in other ways this can be helpful (4-choruses of 12-bar blues, 4-bars to a line, all on one page? No problem!). Also, I like to use a calligraphy fountain pen to do really nice manuscript, and the ink bleeds noticeably with this paper. Finally, when you tear it out, it isn't quite 8 1/2x11, which might be awkward in some circumstances.

4Great Resource!  Jan 03, 2007 By Elizabeth Evans
As a music major, I go through a vast amount of staff paper, but I have barely made a dent in this book because it is big! The book also comes with a helpful guide about key signatures, scales, and variety of other musical concepts. My only complaint is that the ink is very dark so it is hard to read some markings.
