Mix Masters? more like Recording Masters Jul 14, 2003
By D. J. Stasiak This book was not helpful at all. It claimed to include all of these tips from the masters on how to MIX, but at least 80% of the book focused on each famous producers start as an engineer and their favorite gear. Very little detail was given about general mixing techniques and if it was, it was very vague. I would recommend the MIxing engineer's handbook instead.

Great Book Dec 08, 2003
By George M I am an audio engineer and I learned a lot from this book. One of the best things about it is that it contains information that is useful to everyone whether experienced or just starting out. The technical tips are good, but so are the stories of how the people interviewed became successful, and also their ideas and philosophies about recording and mixing music. I recommend this book.

Good Book Feb 23, 2004
By greg mann I'm a musician and own my own home recording studio. I bought this book because I read a review of it that said it was a fun read and that I would learn a lot. It was, and I did. It has a conversational style that makes it easy to read, and it also has a lot of information from experts. I am glad I bought it, and I recommend it.
A Unique Read Aug 22, 2010

This book is great. A fresh view on some of the more recent (<30 years) producers and a few older ones. The author / interviewer asks great questions, very direct and to the point, not a whole lot of fluff.
Some books you get will have interviews from producers and they will say "Yeah I never add EQ to anything! Ever! I never compress! I never add processing!" But we forget that they were recording when they had the nicest gear, all hand wired, completely treated fantastic recording spaces, and they were recording artists like Sinatra! Of course they probably didn't add anything! This book takes on newer genres of music by interviewing producers and mixers of more popular music of the last thirty years, and goes in depth.

Platinum Engineers Reveal their secrets? Jun 27, 2008

"JJ"
I am very disappointed with the book.
The book on the cover claimed: "Mix Masters Platinum Engineers Reveal Their Secrets for Success" but all we got was biographies and list of equipment they use with 1176 popping up almost on every other page.
The question "How much can you normally get done in a day" just was the nail to the coffin.
I read the book and I have not learned anything from it. If you are really bored on Winter night when there is a blizzard outside you can read it but I rather suggest you go to your studio and work on your music.
The book is also pretty outdated, lots of stories about mixing on analog or digital tape.
Solidly revised and updated new addition is needed from the author.
Henry
