Open a music gear catalog and it's bursting with an incredible array of tools available for home recording: recorders, software, interfaces, microphones, and more. And while that's exciting, the sheer volume of choices can be a distraction to the real goal of home recording: getting some music down. Home Studio Clinic, written from a musician's point of view, is designed to help you build and use a studio based on your musical goals, not necessarily on the assumption that you want to become a master engineer. By exploring concepts and various common tasks, this reader-friendly book gives you the know-how to choose equipment that suits your needs and style, and the techniques to use it effectively. "The goal," Menasche says, "is to spend studio time creating, not reading owner's manuals."

5a place to start  Jan 25, 2007 By LBWheels457
This is a wonderful book if you are looking to get started recording. As a performer, I wasn't exactly sure where to start when I wanted to start recording, but this book has answered the questions that I've had and brought up things that I hadn't even thought about!! It's an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand book that I recommend!!!

5Great Intro  Aug 28, 2009 By Will
I'm putting together a home studio and checked this book out from the library after ditching a couple others that were boring and poorly organized. This book has an excellent layout, with concise sections packed with tips that beginners should understand. I read it cover to cover in about 3 days, but you could also use it as a reference and pick and choose the chapters which are laid out in a very practical manner (ie recording drums, recording guitar, etc.). Highly recommended as a starting point for both putting together your studio and starting to produce high quality sound.

3For Beginners Only  Aug 25, 2011 By MOTM
This book is strictly introductory level. I personally didn't have much use for it and was disappointed that it didn't offer more insight beyond the basics. If you've done any kind of recording in the past 10-15 yrs, then you alrerady know just about anything this book has to offer. If on the other hand, you have never seen a computer or mixer before and have never thought about how to isolate microphones, this may be just the guide you're looking for.
