The shooting schedule of this twenty-million dollar film was uncontrollable, and the four-hour premiere received such negative reviews that United Artists demanded that Stevens cut thirty minutes. Every cut required re-writes and new recording. Darby reveals startling details of the final surgery that scarred the film, along with the critiques that deeply wounded George Stevens. | | | |

THE UNMAKING OF THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD MOVIE Jul 08, 2002
By L rodolfo molina B KEN DARBY TELLS A GOOD STORY ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THAT LEAD TO THE FAILURE OF DIRECTOR GEORGE STEVENS "TGSET", BUT IN REALITY IS ONLY ABOUT THE MUSIC. iF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE WRITING OR THE DREAMS OF STEVENS, LOOK FOR A FUTURE BOOK. A INTERESTING STORY BUT LACKS DETAILS.
