1A Dry, Top-heavy Disaster  Apr 13, 2009 By C. McClelland "Newyorkiwi"
This text was used in my intro to economics course, and my professor was one of the co-authors (Jean A Shackelford). What a mistake.

The text drags and fails to make basic economic concepts accessible to students at an introductory level. The authors adore Marx and largely skim over a balanced look at the intersection of economic ideas in the modern economy (i.e. how do these concepts play out in the modern world).

The book is also extraordinarily poorly organized--we didn't hit Supply and Demand until weeks into the course. Vocabulary terms are defined in such language as to render them unapproachable, and the graphs are frankly hideous, especially in the microeconomics section.

A horrible, dry experience.

1This book is horrible.  Oct 19, 2011 By Sam
I agree with everything McClelland has to say about it and I would also like to add in that A LOT of the review and reading questions don't make sense or related too well with what you have just read and this book is just down right crappy. It's no wonder this book was 1 dollar when I bought it.

This book provided a lot of good information on historic and present day economics. Very helpful for school and everyday use.
