Diary of a Drummer Boy Jun 09, 2007 The book is excellent. Easy for elementary students to relate to. Tells a historical account of the trials of a youngster in journal form, who enlists in the Civil War because he doesn't like what he hears about slavery. Gives the reader a look at the Civil War from a young boys perspective. Historical Fiction
