As a guitar player looking to pick up some clawhammer banjo technique, I am finding this set an amazing value. The audio + tab format works great for me, and I find the explanations and audio examples clear and precise. Further, the arrangements are tasteful, and from the first tune you are getting material that sounds musical and worth playing.
If you work carefully and dilligently with this book you are going to pick up some great tunes and a solid base in techniques. This set is really rewarding to work with ... certainly one of the better tutors of the dozens of music books I have purchased over the years.
If you are an absolute beginner (ie, never played music of any kind before), you may want to work through a more basic instructional before you tackle this one.

for traditonal player this is an excellent resource and starting point. he covers many different styles with in traditional playing always rememering that you're try to learn I know 50 bucks get over it it's worth it. banjohangout.org for more resources
