Doesn't fold open easily Nov 18, 2011
By Tinfoot I had initially bought the Mel Bay "Original Banjo Case Chord Book", but after a couple months, I was getting a little frustrated as I found myself needing to see the fingering of chords not presented (especially ones up the neck). Now I wish I had bought this first as it is quite small and as portable as the Banjo Case Chord Book (more so as it is not as tall, thus sticking out of a gig-bag pocket). Just be aware it covers only Open G, Standard C, Open C, and Open D tunings. Also, an interesting thing is that I noticed slightly different fingerings presented for some of the chords between the two books (B7 in Open G is the one that comes to mind most readily).
All in all, I really like this book - just one "bleah" aspect: it has a simple glue binding, so it doesn't fold open easily, and I strongly hesitate in forcing it open further lest the binding cracks and pages start falling out, which makes it rather awkward when looking up a chord with a banjo in your lap and left hand on the neck. Of course, you could always grab a hole-punch and fix that. :)
