Arthur Pryor was one of the most popular bandsmen of his day. He was the trombone soloist for the famous John Philip Sousa band in the early part of the 20th Century.
Pryor later organized his own band that was renowned around the world. He was one of the first solo performers to use phonograph recordings to preserve his performances. To this day, his recordings of his own works are considered to be some of the best trombone performances ever recorded. Pryor's works for the trombone are melodic, idiomatic and virtuosic. This collection preserves many of his best known compositions like Thoughts of Love and Blue Bells of Scotland, but also makes available once again some of his other delightful works.
