American Basses offers a wealth of in-depth information and 200 beautiful color photos profiling the leading builders of bass guitars, both electric and acoustic. The book illustrates the tremendous range of instruments currently available, and how they differ. It also includes insider tips and secrets from top builders on how to get the most out of the instruments. The book covers more than 100 makers, ranging from one-man shops to large corporations. It focuses on makers in the country where the bass guitar was invented and where most of the important milestones in its development have happened, but it includes an overview of international builders as well. This is the perfect player's guide to the instruments, and also a celebration of these two American gems.

4American Basses: An Illustrated History and Player's Guide  Oct 19, 2005
The book presented very well with good information supplied. The book does however, double up on certain manufacturers if they were involved with more than one company. The pictures are good quality. My only grief is that the author could have focused more on construction techniques than just an encyclopedia of american basses.
